Chapter 13 Demo (Super Scarfman) is up

I put up the first of many demos, the cloned version of Super Mario Brothers. Call it Super Scarfman, or whatever. You can find two versions of it on the demos page, one with all the tunable numbers set to zero (for learning purposes) and one that’s the feel of Mario (without the graphics and sound, for obvious reasons.)  I recommend trying to recreate the feel of Mario from the untuned version; it’s an interesting and challenging exercise :).

Hey Steve! I just picked up your book and it’s really resonating with me so far. Great work. Any updates on when the demos might become available?

Just got the book… and I love it.
I was wondering if you’ll have examples for us mac users available too.

Maybe flash would be a good way to do bring the examples to life. That way everyone can enjoy.

    I hope you’ll consider it.
    Best

    Hey Steve,

Reading your book as part of my thesis research on Human-Computer Interaction on Videogames. Great work! I don’t agree on some things but I love to see someone publishing stuff on the field.

    Keep up the good work!

    Best regards,
    Erick R.

@George: Makes sense. Hope you didn’t get a papercut! :)

@Erick: I’d be interested to hear more. There are a lot of things I’d like to rewrite at this point, a lot of places the thinking has changed and evolved.
